Peter Ostaltsov
Senior Faculty
Born in Leningrad, USSR (now St. Petersburg, Russia) in a family of ballet dancers from Kirov Ballet (now Maryinsky State Opera and Ballet Theater), Peter began his ballet studies at the age of 10 at the Vaganova Ballet Academy. Upon graduation in 1988, Peter began his career as a dancer at the Kirov Ballet. During his 10 year tenure at the Kirov, Peter danced such prestigious roles such as Hilarion in “Giselle”, von Rothbart in “Swan Lake”, Espada from Torrero in “Don Quixote” as well as Tibalt from “Romeo and Juliet”. As a member of the Kirov Ballet, Peter had the opportunity to tour in the United States, England, Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Japan, and South Korea. After his arrival in the United States, Peter joined Hartford Ballet in Connecticut (1997) where he danced for one year before joining Boston Ballet. After five years with Boston Ballet, Peter joined Festival Ballet Providence, where he both danced professionally and taught in the Festival Ballet School. In addition to teaching, Peter began choreographing short ballets for Festival Ballet such as “Tristan and Isolde” (music by R.Wagner), “Casta Diva” (music by Bellini), and “Antonio and Wolfgang” (music by W.A.Mozart). In 2006, he was invited by Liaoning Ballet (Shenyang, People’s Republic of China) to direct a production of “Le Corsaire”. Peter joins us as a senior faculty member for our Classical Ballet Program.
